Seattle to Brattleboro VT
Any tips on desirable plane routing or favored airport to arrive? Best airports to connect (I have not found non-stop flights available)? I used Hartford when I lived in Vermont, but am wondering for this trip if Boston or somewhere else would be better. I will get/return a rental car at the airport to drive up to Brat.
|
Oops, answered my own question, Alaska is running nonstops to Boston.
|
Actually, Manchester NH is a lot easier to get in and out of than Boston, and it's closer to Brattleboro.
|
I would take Manchester or Hartford over Boston Logan any day.....
|
Another possiblity is driving south from Montreal. |
I actually liked AlaskaAir for Boston-Seattle. But I heard that JetBlue has just added a non-stop route. And American has one as well (3rd choice, I think)
on the other hand, Manchester is the closer airport if you can get a non-stop to there. |
American discontinued its SEA-BOS nonstop some time ago. Now everything is via ORD or DFW.
Note Jet Blue's new flight (starts in November) will be a red-eye, so if you want to drive up you can do it in the morning. Alaska also has a red-eye, and a day flight that arrives after dark. |
hi all. Thanks so much for the input, I'll check out the Manchester option.
I agree... would *definitely* prefer arriving Hartford BUT there are no nonstops, so my flying time would be anywhere from 6-1/2 to 8+ hours total with a change in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, or Cinncinati depending on the carrier. Seattle/Boston is a nonstop 5 hr 20 min flight. Do you think Logan/Boston truly enough of a nightmare to avoid even for this trade-off? |
darn it, same deal for Manchester, all flights connect thru Cinncinati or Atlanta, etc. and range from flight time of 7-1/2 to 9 hours.
|
What time would you land at Logan? Week or weekend? If you come in at an "off time" (non-rush hour) and/or on a weekend, it'll be easier to get in/out of Logan.

Good points bm- The Alaska flight lands at 5:05pm & I was planning to arrive/depart on Sundays. This is in August so I was anticipating it to be light long enough to make the drive or at least get out of the Boston area.
Montreal appears to be about a 5 hour drive to Brattleboro, right? So I don't see that as a better option. And none of the other airports suggested(Hartford CT, Albany NY, Manchester NH) offer nonstop flights. But I'm not thrilled with the Boston plan so any other thoughts are much appreciated! |
Albany has decent service from several airlines, with total travel time from SEA in the 7 - 8 hour range, vs. 6 to BOS then a long drive. In summer I wouldn't worry about daylight being an issue if you get to ALB before 6 or 7 pm. It's only 75 miles.
|
Gardyloo- I want to clarify... you think it would be worth somewhat longer flight time and making 1 connection to use Albany instead of Boston? I sure like the only 75 miles drive part! Will do more research...
