my favorite Kayak rental in Seattle:
Northwest Outdoor Center
on the west side of Lake Union right near downtown (lake union is a fascinating urban lake to kayak, and one can continue eastward "through the cut" to Lake Washington or westward along "the ship canal" to Government Locks.

I'm pretty lo-end, so not good advice for high-end shopping or hotels -- but Bellevue has the highest end ... Bellevue Square and, across the street, The Bravern (which won't open until 2009) will have a Nieman Marcus and other high end

Doesn't look like you got any/many running route suggestions. My faves: Lincoln Park - path runs along a high bluff and winds down to the beach by the Vashon ferry term. Nice view over to the island and the Olympics. Harbor Avenue path has a view of the city for a couple of miles, then takes a turn toward the Sound. Both of those are in West Seattle. Greenlake is my sentimental favorite (met Mr. A there). Myrtle Edwards park near the Olympic Sculpture Garden is nice, and there are some great paths in Magnolia as well.

Kayaking - there's a place to rent on Lake Union that I've used a couple of times - Northwest Outdoor on Westlake.

Running route right downtown---can't fault the waterfront path, from the ferry area, and then through Myrtle Edwards Park and the Olympic Sculpture Park. Very easy to reach without transport from the downtown area.

Kayak/canoe rentals--ditto lennyba's suggestion for the Outdoor Center, and beanweb's for the Aqua Verde Paddle club. Both on or near Lake Union, but very different.

Seconding (thirding?) Salumi and Dahlia Lounge for drinks.

Burke Gilman Trail is great for long flat rides. Stopping at the Gasworks Park (north end of Lake Union) to see the view of downtown form the top of the hill is a must. And IF the Essential Baking Company near the bottom of Wallingford is still there then that is a great stop for croissants, sandwiches or coffee and chocolate.

(Seattle is a great chocolate town, too). Fran,s is a scrumptious chocolatier at a few locations in town.

Maybe she'll bring you home some chocolate!

It's the coffee. It makes people behave in ways they wouldn't elsewhere.
