Seattle site: Grunge Music?
We'll soon be in Seattle. Teen son wants to see where Grunge became popular. Anyone know of any 'sights' that can be seen?

In particular, about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain?

Thanks!

Definately head over to the Crocodile Cafe. It is part diner, part bar, part live music venue where many Seattle bands have and still get their starts. Nirvana, Mudhoney and Pearl Jam all played here in the beginning. One of the owners is a member of REM and still can be run into.

Thanks, Wendy! Where is the Crocodile Cafe? Downtown? Near the space needle maybe? It sounds familiar to both ds and ME!

The Crocodile Cafe is located in the Belltown area. Here's the website: http://www.thecrocodile.com
If your son is really into music, be sure to check out EMP (Experience Music Project) at the Seattle Center.

Also, might want to check on the SeattleWeekly calendar for current events.

There's the Ozzfest at The Gorge August 27. I don't know if there are any tickets left (got my daugther's and her friend's for a gift in May), but you can check it out on ticketmaster.com.

The croc is on 2nd and Blanchard. BTW they serve up a great breakfast too. Also I don't know how old your son is but most of the live music venues are 21+. But as Seattlite mentioned if you pick up the Seattle Weekly or better yet the Stranger (both free papers at most coffee shops, cafes, etc.) It will state if shows are 21 or not.

Have fun in Seattle.
