Seattle Post Cruise - Stay Downtown or Airport?

Daughter and I will be getting off a cruise ship early on a Saturday morning late May. Our flight to the east coast doesn't leave until 6:00 AM Sunday morning.
Any suggestions on logistics of doing some sightseeing in or around Seattle and getting to the airport the next morning?
Should we go directly to an airport hotel after the cruise and go back into town, or stay in town and hope a (very) early taxi will be available? Is SEA crowded even at 4:30 or 5 in the morning?
Thanks.

I would stay downtown and take an early cab--your hotel can arrange it for you. That way you'll be able to walk around and do some sightseeing and have a nice dinner downtown.

A lot of flights seem to leave at 6 Am so I'm always surprised by how crowded the airport is around 4:30-5 Am but you should be ok leaving Seattle at 4 AM and getting there about 90 minutes before your flight.

I agree with the above. There's nothing much to do down around the airport. I'd stay in downtown and have your hotel arrange a very early taxi. SeaTac is not overly crowded that time of the morning, but there are a surprising number of fairly early flights out.

Second NWWanderer. Stay downtown. Much more to do. Great restaurants. Pike's Market. Aquarium. You are trading 15 minutes sleep for a day you will really enjoy.

Absolutely stay downtown. In a day you can visit the Pike Place Market, waterfront, sculpture park, Pioneer Square Historic District, Space Needle, and go shopping--if that interests you.

The heart of the shopping district is 5th Avenue and Pine Street (Nordstrom, Macy's, Pacific Place, etc. Nearby hotels include the Sheraton, Westin, Andra, Mayflower, and Homewood Suites.

Downtown it is! I got the Westin on Priceline for the night before the cruise. I'll try for the night after based on your advice. Thanks again.
