Seattle on foot for one day, enough time to see Bainbridge Island too?

Hi There,
Here's a question for a local. We've got one full day in Seattle (on foot)
Staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown(on Aurora/map looks like 7th and St. John area?) To have an enjoyable and full day, what should our trek be? Like everyone else we'd like to experience Pike Place/and ?? but also wanted to do Bainbridge Island Ferry? Is that too much for a day and what would you suggest for route from point A to B etc..I've pulled up a map of trans. routes, but ...silly questions..do all forms of city trans. do loops up and back again on routes? Any help would be appreciated...

You can. How rushed you'll be depends on the ?? part of your "Pike Place/and ??" equation. Are you thinking of going up in the Needle? Going to SAM? Do you actually want time to see the island, or is just going back and forth on the ferry enough for you?

Your hotel is a bit outside the downtown core (North), keep that in mind as you make your plans.

Bainbridge is just a 35 minute ferry ride from Colman Dock (Pier 52) in downtown Seattle. The village on the island can easily be wandered on foot from end to end in about an hour and a half. I would get up early, go to the market, head up to the main commercial area (Westlake/Pacific Place malls), then take a bus (they are free) down to have a look at Pioneer Square. From there walk to Colman Dock and enjoy the ferry ride to Bainbridge...try to come back at sunset just as all the city lights are coming on. Go to the WSDOT web site for ferry schedules.

Sounds perfect Azzure!(exactly what I had in mind but wasn't sure if "my vision" would actually work!)..sounds like you think it will...
and Lennyba thanks for the tip about our hotel, guess we'll just have to look at the space needle "from the outside"..Anyone want to suggest the fastest/cheapest route to "get to the market" from out hotel...would that be the monorail? thanks all...

Exact what azzure said. That's perfect!

Bainbridge Island isn't so popular and often-recommended activity for what's on the other side really, it's more about the ferry ride over and back and the great views you get from on the water. Plus the ferry itself is fun. The little downtown area's cute but not all that much to do besides grab lunch somewhere, look in a few shops.

You can get from your hotel to the Pike Place Market by walking, walking + monorail, Metro bus, or take a taxi.

If one did want to spend some time on the island, what is there to do?
