Seattle Night spots

Hi-
Still planning my trip to Seattle..how about your favorite downtown area night spots. There are so many listed on citysearch.com-what are some of your favorites?

Thanks!

We like Jazz Alley and if you like ballet or opera, the new opera house is fabulous for either.

Speaking of Jazz Alley, I'll be going there for a concert in a few weeks. I've never been there before. Is it a dressy or more casual type place? Also, any recommendations from the menu?

Kostroma, Jazz Alley is kind of un-Seattle-like in the sense that people DO tend to dress up a bit. It's VERY dark, though, so it probably doesn't matter what you wear! You'll still see people in jeans, though.

As for the menu, the only recommendation I can make is NOT to read it. The food is terrible and overpriced. I only go for the music, because I had dinner there with a large group and the food was mediocre at best, across the board. Now I go to the late show and have a drink, no food. Sorry.

A new music venue has opened recently--called The Triple Door (206 838-4333). The food should be good--it is operated by the Wild Ginger people. I look forward to going there.

The food at Jazz Alley is disappointing, but we go early for dinner because we get a better table that way.

Also,at Jazz Alley the Salmon Salad Nicoise is eatable--not great, but eatable, but the music and venue well makes up for any flaws in the food!

Jimshep--thank you for the tip--looking forward to trying a new jazz place here.

Yeah, other than Jazz Alley, what other downtown area night spots do you recommend. ((b))

Thanks. Maybe I'll just get an appetizer.

It's such a taste-dependent, age-dependent question, and the buzz changes all the time. Crocodile hot or not? Pioneer Square bar music or Capitol Hill gay scene?

Browse the Stranger http://www.thestranger.com or the Weekly, http://www.seattleweekly.com for general guides. If the OP lets us know his/her preferences, it will be easier.

For an all-in-one you can't go wrong with nightlife in Pioneer Square, Jazz Alley or otherwise. You can pay a club cover charge that get's you in to about 8-10 clubs in Pioneer Square offering a wide variety of music. Have fun!

I forgot to mention. If you go to Jazz Alley and they still serve Olympic Mountain ice cream, that is the best thing on the menu to eat. Olympic Mountain is a brand available only in local restaurants.
