If you bring your car to Fremont, just pay attention to parking regulations. We became zoned last year, and you can only park for a max of 2 hours.

It's a little out of your price range, but Sutra in Wallingford (on 45th) is an excellent multi-course vegetarian restaurant (that will accomodate vegans if necessary). The cost is $33 per person (drinks not included) and there are two seatings nightly. I've been twice and it's wonderful.

Also in Wallingford is a very good vegetarian Thai restaurant, Jhanjay.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to thank you all for the suggestions. My sister and I had a great time. Too much to see in one week though, she'll just have to come back ;)

Our first day out we enjoyed Volunteer Park, the Capitol Hill neighborhood, especially loved Remedy Teas. Also took the bus downtown (she was a little scared of the public bus, but made it out OK with lots of hand sanitizer), bought some things at the Pike Place Starbucks, wandered The Market, Downtown, and that little waterfront park near the market (what's it called?), had to drag her out of Sephora.

Second day downtown we went to Queen Anne, spent a long time at Kerry Park (GORGEOUS!), went to Cafe Fiore, walked along the shops in Queen Anne, then drove to Fremont. Walked the Burke Gilman trail (part of it at least), saw the Troll, went to PCC (she has nothing like this where she lives, poor thing).

We also did a lot of family trips (Snoqualmie Falls, Alki Beach, Bellevue for the Mall, Whole Foods, and What the Pho). There is just too much to see here! It's why I love living here! But thanks to all you kind people I was able to narrow down some things to do with her while I had some rare time away from my kids!

Hi Mom0509~ Thanks for checking back in and with your nice "trip report". Glad you enjoyed Capitol Hill. Yes I guess riding Metro might be a bit intimidating if you've not used urban public transportation before :-)

That park at the north end of the Market's called: Victor Steinbrueck Park".
