Seattle monorail back in service

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

The monorail is rolling again.

Regular service resumed at 10 a.m. today. It will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The monorail has been shut down since Nov. 26 when its two trains sideswiped each other on a curve.

Repairs cost more than $3 million. New doors were made by the set creators for the Seattle Opera.

The city says insurance will pay for most of the bill.

The one-mile line between the Seattle Center and Westlake Center downtown is a big tourist attraction that has carried 2 million passengers a year.
:
An automated stopping system was added to prevent future collisions.

Thanks for the news HTTY. We had planned to be on it the night of the accident, right around that time. A sick child made us change our plans at the last minute, so we were fortunate.

Oops! It was out of service for three hours over the weekend.

There have been some recent breakdowns. You can check it out at seattletimes.com. Hopefully they have the problem resolved now.

Is this the crappiest monorail in history? I was out there in '04 and it was shut down indefinitely at that time.
