Seattle Marriott Waterfront or Grand Hyatt?
 

Anyone familiar with these two hotels? Which do you think is the better choice?

I stayed at the Elliot Grand Hyatt last year and loved it. Gorgeous views of the harbor from our very well appointed room, a giagantic bathroom with all amenities, and very easy to walk to the harbor, Nordie's flagship store, and good restaurants. I got a great deal on luxury link for $150 a night in July. Best front desk staff imaginable!

Marriott - convenient for the central waterfront, cruise ships, tram to Pioneer Square, International District, Safeco Field. Less convenient for department stores, office core, conference center. The Marriott's closer to the Pike Market, the Hyatt has better access to freeways, Seattle Center, Nordstrom's.

The Hyatt is a very classy operation, but definitely in the "business" hotel category; the Marriott is more geared to tourism. Note that the Marriott is not on the waterfront, but across a busy street from the piers.

I am local so have not stayed at either but eat my lunch outdoors in the summer right next to the Marriott Waterfront. Maybe it is nice once you are inside but it is weirdly placed, wedged in on a steep hillclimb with the train tracks running right behind it and a multi-lane street with fairly heavy traffic running in front of it. It's just odd IMO. It does have an interesting pool which is 1/2 indoors and 1/2 outdoors with nice patio situation.

Search Fodors, I remember someone wrote a very detailed review about Grand Hyatt not that long ago.

I'd say the Marriott. I know one of the sous chefs at the Fish Club in the Marriott...a relatively new restaurant that had received excellent early reviews. Plus, you ARE on the Waterfront and close to Pike Place

I stayed at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront and absolutely loved it! Beautiful hotel, extremely comfortable beds, breathtaking view of water, and close to Pike Place Market. I definately recomend eating dinner at the Fish Club, the rood is delicious!

I don't know about the hotel but the restaurant at the Marriott has been getting very good reviews (from my co-workers who have recently eaten lunch there a couple times).

Todd English (the executive chef for the Fish Club) is a celebrity chef who's places pack 'em in yea verily unto the Queen Mary 2.

For my money the Marriott Waterfront has an inconveninet location; I love cities and love to be in the middle of the action. But the Marriott may be the better choice of the two options because the street is torn up in front of the Grand Hyatt and the hotel operator has been complaining about construction noise at night.

Hyatt Grand is fantastic. Great service, absolutely beautiful rooms and views. I would definitely stay at the Hyatt. You will love it!!
