Seattle - Los Angeles Road Trip
 

Anyone recommends this??? What city I must visit? Any suggestion will be great!

Depends how much time you have. It's beautiful if you can linger along the Pacific coast routes. It's pretty boring and not terribly scenic if you drive the freeways the entire way.

I want to spend about 20 days, spend 2 or 3 in Seattle, then start the trip, visiting the best city in the way. I want to spend more days in Los Angeles. if i will have some days left maybe i can go to Las Vegas... As you can see i didn't decide yet. Im in the planning fase. :) (sorry about my english, I'm brazilian).

My favorite west coast city is San Francisco. But also like Seattle (I live here) and Los Angeles (was born there).

You could visit Mt Rainier and Mt St Helen (depending on weather) as you drive south from Seattle.

The California coast between San Francisco and LA (along the Pacific Coast Highways) is amazing.

Here's what you can do: Seattle, SF, Yosemite, Monterey, Carmel, Hearst Castle, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, LA. If you have time, go to Laguna Beach for 1 night and San Diego for 2-3 nights too.

With that much time, don't use the freeway. Going over to the coast and then south from Seattle takes you out of range for Mts. Rainier and St. Helens, so I would recommend going down I-5 to Portland, catching St. Helens on the way (Rainier is a day trip during your time in Seattle), then from Portland over to the coast to Astoria and highway 101 the rest of the way. I-5 doesn't go through San Francisco, and it is deadly boring anyway.

One of my favorite trips in winter is to drive the Olympic Penn. Start in Seattle, go to Annacortes, Deception Pass, Port Angeles, then down the coast, see Hurricaine Ridge, Squimm, Lake Cresent, Iron Springs, (not necessarily in that order), Lake Quinalt Lodge (very quaint) and the Rain Forest (incredibe in winter), then continue down toward Oregon...but I usually turn back about here.

I think you should delay your trip a month. By April, rain is ending, flowers are blooming, Spring is spring, It's more fun.

I did this trip about 10 years ago and it was one of my most memorable ever. My boyfriend and I drove from Seattle to Los Angeles in a quick 3 days but I could have taken 2 weeks doing this trip. If I recall, working south from Seattle, here were some highlights:

1. Tilamook, Oregon - cheese factory!
2. Sylvia Beach Hotel in Nye, Oregon
http://www.sylviabeachhotel.com/ where each room is decorated in the theme of a different author, and there is a great library room overlooking the water- reasonable rates, too!
3. Canon Beach (Oregon)
4. Coos Bay (where they filmed the famous One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest boat-escape scene)
5. lots of incredible bridges and amazing rock formations
6. the Sea Lion Caves! not to be missed- corny but you take an elevator down into the cliff and end up in a veritable pirate's cave full of sea lions.
7. 2nd night we stayed in Monterey which is obviously gorgeous
8. 17 mile drive
9. stop at La Ventana for a drink (but not too much b/c the drive is scary!)
10. Stop at Hearst Castle and take the tour (book in advance)

My goodness I'm sure there's a TON more great stuff between Seattle and LA but that's what comes to mind. HAVE FUN!!!
