Yes, I thought Denver traffic was bad, but not compared to what we've seen here. One driver was saying the city simply doesn't have enough lanes to accommodate the cars.

I have been here about four times before, at various times of the year, and have always had good weather. Pure luck.

Any other ideas for an adventure this afternoon/evening? Is there a good wine tour to take?

Do one of the kayak tours. There is a little green rolling kiosk down by Anthony's at Pier 66. They are a lot of fun!

Glad you enjoyed Ivar's

Don't know about wine tours, but you might check out one of the food tours with Savour Seattle. If they have their Booze n Bites tour going/available, do it!

You could head out to Woodinville:

The winery tours are mainly out in Woodinville but there's a tasting room down in the Pike Place market - https://tastingroomseattle.com/

A couple of Lake Union possibilities -

Rent an electric boat from - duh - the Electric Boat Company - http://theelectricboatco.com/ and go poke around the houseboats.

Or buzz the houseboats with a flightseeing trip on a floatplane - http://www.kenmoreair.com/ or http://www.seattleseaplanes.com/

Or go visit the less-well-known-than-it-should-be (but terrific) Burke Museum on the UW campus, about the same walk from your hotel as Ivar's - http://www.burkemuseum.org/

Or hop an Uber or see if the hotel's shuttle will take you to the Japanese Garden in the Arboretum - http://www.seattle.gov/parks/parkspa...nesegarden.htm - a marvelous and lovely oasis in the middle of the city.

Last day in Seattle. What beautiful weather! We decided against Tillicum, because we got a later start on the afternoon than we'd expected.

We took a harbor cruise instead. The views of Rainier were spectacular, and I took some good pictures of it.

What a pretty city, with the water and mountains in the distance. Seattle showed off for us this week.

For dinner, we went to Agua Verde. Fun place. Unfortunately we didn't get to sit outside, though. Food and service were good.

We leave tomorrow evening.

We received bad news today. A friend's 20-year-old daughter was mauled by a grizzly in Alaska. She and a friend were hiking close to a back country lodge where they work. We don't know the extent of her injuries yet, but do know the bear was on top of her when the other girl ran away to get help. Every hiker's worst nightmare.

This has been a bad luck summer. In June, another friend of ours was shot and killed by a sniper in Loveland, CO. His sister is also a good friend. She's devastated. The sniper also killed a bicyclist, shot a woman in the neck, and shot at several other people. The sniper has not been caught yet.

She's been upgraded to good condition at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, a great hospital where my Goddaughter is one of the consulting docs. Best wishes to her family.

Confrontations with brownies in the bush are super scary; I've had a couple, one not far from where this attack occurred.

Glad you had a good time in our fair city. Come back soon!

Us desert folks do truly love the colors [green and blue, in particular] and water that makes Seattle so special.

Sorry about your friends' daughter; how awful.

Small world, Gardyloo. She will survive, but probably will have a long road to recovery.

Deb, we feel the same way about seeing water whenever we can.

A bientot, Seattle.

Just got this message:
"Gabrielle is recovering much faster than expected and walked one lap around her floor today. It is going to be a long recovery but she has the right attitude. Infection is a big worry."

A doctor in Montana is going to help with the infection issues. He's become a specialist in grizzly attacks and has isolated the bacteria involved.
