Yes, I thought Denver traffic was bad, but not compared to what we've seen here. One driver was saying the city simply doesn't have enough lanes to accommodate the cars.

I have been here about four times before, at various times of the year, and have always had good weather. Pure luck.

Do one of the kayak tours. There is a little green rolling kiosk down by Anthony's at Pier 66. They are a lot of fun!

Last day in Seattle. What beautiful weather! We decided against Tillicum, because we got a later start on the afternoon than we'd expected.

We took a harbor cruise instead. The views of Rainier were spectacular, and I took some good pictures of it.

What a pretty city, with the water and mountains in the distance. Seattle showed off for us this week.

For dinner, we went to Agua Verde. Fun place. Unfortunately we didn't get to sit outside, though. Food and service were good.

We leave tomorrow evening.

We received bad news today. A friend's 20-year-old daughter was mauled by a grizzly in Alaska. She and a friend were hiking close to a back country lodge where they work. We don't know the extent of her injuries yet, but do know the bear was on top of her when the other girl ran away to get help. Every hiker's worst nightmare.

This has been a bad luck summer. In June, another friend of ours was shot and killed by a sniper in Loveland, CO. His sister is also a good friend. She's devastated. The sniper also killed a bicyclist, shot a woman in the neck, and shot at several other people. The sniper has not been caught yet.

She's been upgraded to good condition at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, a great hospital where my Goddaughter is one of the consulting docs. Best wishes to her family.

Confrontations with brownies in the bush are super scary; I've had a couple, one not far from where this attack occurred.

"Gabrielle is recovering much faster than expected and walked one lap around her floor today. It is going to be a long recovery but she has the right attitude. Infection is a big worry."

A doctor in Montana is going to help with the infection issues. He's become a specialist in grizzly attacks and has isolated the bacteria involved.
