Seattle Hotels Located in an Area Frequented by Pimps and Prostitues
This morning's Seattle newspaper reports that an area bounded by Fifth Avenue, Denny Avenue, Aurora Avenue North, and Thomas Street, known as "The Track," is "a cruising ground for johns on Friday and Saturday nights....a spot where pimps go to recruit girls and young women."
Hotels located within this area include Hyatt Place, Quality Inn, Travelodge, and Best Western Executive Inn.
I was surprised. I have always felt safe walking in this area near Seattle Center, but I don't hang out there at night.

Well I don't think you would need to feel unsafe just because there is illicit activity in the area, as long as you are not participating in it! Hwy99/Aurora has long been known for this kind of thing, more to the north, but it's no surprise. I doubt it would effect a tourist's experience.

We stayed at the 5th Ave Inn - and one room had a view of an adult movie store or something like this. We didn't see any 'working ladies' though. Nothing suspicious.
The front of the hotel looked nice and safe, and it seemed to be an OK location.

There is no Fifth Avenue Inn in Seattle. Perhaps you mean the Sixth Avenue Inn, which is half a mile from the area described in the Seattle Times.
I posted this information because a few days ago somebody asked about Hyatt Place and I was surprised to learn today that it is located in an area where pimps and prostitutes hang out.
I try to avoid neighborhoods where criminal activity is known to be in the streets; however, those who enjoying rubbing elbows with lowlife now know one place to to get their kicks in Seattle.

Every city has a 'funky" area.
Seatle is IMHO better to visit and stay in hotels than most.
The area south off Pike Place MArket used to have a "questionable" reputation and so did the area around Pioneer Square.
