Seattle hotels
 

I will take a cruise to alaska from seattle. I will stay on seattle on july 17 and take the cruise the next day. I am looking for a hotel in Downtown for this night and also for my returning night from the cruise on july 25. I want a hotel with good location. I am traveling with my 3 y/o, husband and parents. We need something nice and if possible near top attractions because we don't have plenty of time. We arrive july 17 around 2 o'clock. And on july 25 before mid-day. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The following good hotels are at or near the heart of the retail, restaurant, and entertainment center: Westin, Sheraton, Mayflower, Grand Hyatt, Warwick, Andra, and Hyatt at Olive 8.

I agree with the post above. Anything in the *downtown Seattle* core is convenient to everything. It's a fairly compact area.

My list is basically the same as happy trails... Mayflower Park, the Warwick, Inn at the Market, Inn at El Gaucho, Hotel Andra, Hotel Max, the Roosevelt, Sheraton, Westin, Edgewater.

Grand Hyatt is really beautiful and is in a slightly better location. Crowne Plaza is nice but no true lobby area.

have you read previous posts for suggestions? what sounds appealing? without more info it's hard to just suggest restaurants as there are so many good ones.

The couple we are traveling with have a free night at a Marriott. So I'm wondering about the location of the Courtyard Marriott downtown/Lake Union? Is it close to the popular must see's in Seattle?

Of the hotels in the Marriott family, the Renaissance is the best situated to the retail, shopping, and entertainment core of the city.

There is a new Courtyard Seattle Downtown/Pioneer Square that is also well situated for sightseeing.

The Courtyard on Lake Union would be o.k., in my view, if the one- to two-mile walk to the center were pleasant, but it is not.

you could catch a SLUT (South Lake Union Trolley) to the core downtown area from the Courtyard Marriott. Otherwise, it is a bit far. Renaissance Marriott is reasonably close to everything.

It is not called SLUT. They renamed it "Seattle Streetcar" when they realized about the acronym.

In a similar vein, the Tahoe regional bus system is called "TART" - Tahoe Area Regional Transit. SLUT and TART, hmmmmm....

The city of Fillmore, CA briefly had the Fillmore Area Rapid Transit system...yes, FART. Name was changed almost immediately.

When I lived in the area, we also used to have fun with the city of Moorpark's name, which spelled backwards, is "Kraproom".
