Seattle Hotels

Hello. I am attending a meeting in Seattle in a few weeks. I have a reservation at the Alexis Hotel. Is this a good choice for me? I have seen some not-so-positive reviews on the Internet and am wondering if I should make a change. I would like to be at a spa-type - upscale hotel. Thank you. Betsy

Depends. What are you looking for?

We used to live up there so when we go back we usually stay with friends and family. But last year we stayed at the Alexis for a few days. Loved it!!! Beautiful hotel, HUGE room (very nicely done), couldn't hear a thing outside of our room, great breakfast restaurant onsite, short easy walk to Pike Place Market, very quick valets, and we had a good rate. So yes, we loved it, lol!

This is not meant against the Alexis because I haven't stayed there in years. But it strikes me as a kind of stuck in the 80's styled hotel.

How about one of the new places like Hotel Andra or 1000?

suze--Definitely go check it out. Not 80ish at all, thankfully:) Our room was very elegant and I honestly cannot say enough about it.

I think I heard or read recently that the Alexis was going to be renovated this year, so maybe the rooms are due for some freshening--not sure what the not-so-positive reviews had to say but if that was the issue, then it sounds like the hotel is planning to address it.

I have been to the Aveda spa there and it's small and not as deluxe as some of the newer ones, but I enjoyed my treatments there.

You might want to look into the Hotel 1000 across the street, which has a spa and is quite new.

Thank you so much for all of your thoughts. I have made a new reservation at Hotel 1000. The services and look really appeal to me. I appreciate your input! Betsy

I stayed at the Hotel Andra last year and even though I got a really great deal, my room was average and I felt the staff seemed way more important than the customer and that was across the board from front desk to room service...loved the location and maybe things have changed...hope so!

I have no experience with the hotels mentioned above, but did have a wonderful stay at the Inn at the Market this past summer. It might be worth looking at.

Have a great time! :-)

Lots of good hotels recommended here.

Still not sure where the OP wants to be. Hopefully she will post back so people can help more.

Perfect choice! Please let us know how it turns out. Living in Seattle myself I try to keep up, but need to hear from real guests what's good. -suze

I think I have the right place to stay in Hotel 1000 -- thanks to all of your for your suggestions. My meeting will be in downtown Seattle and it looks like Hotel 1000 is in a great location -- close to the other conference hotels but also close to galleries and restaurants. The hotel (with its spa) looks like a true get-away in the midst of what will be a busy conference. Thank you so much for your help. I am now wondering about restaurants. I like new and trendy places. If anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them. Many thanks. Betsy

Hotel 1000 is terrific-one of my friends stayed there recently and I checked out here room. Lots of very impressive features, like the tub that fills from the ceiling, the separate rain shower, the privacy shade between the bathroom and main room...BOKA has a very good happy hour, fyi.
