seattle hotels

For a first time visit to Seattle, what area and which hotels do you recommend? Something central and decent, but hopefully not more than 200 per night.

Thanks

hlsam,
I live here in Seattle area so don't have suggestions for hotels, but I understand people have gotten good deals on priceline.com.

I highly recommend staying in one of the downtown Seattle hotels. I believe The Mayflower Park falls within that price range.

I stayed at the Comfort Suites near the Space Needle last year. Got a really good rate. It was in a decent location.

We stayed at the Inn at Harbor Steps and it worked out very well, A very nice room with a small kitchnette, breakfast and snacks were included. They had a good health club and pool. The location we thought could not be beat. A block from Pike Place Market, across from the Art museum and we could walk to many things. Plus the square where it was located had coffee places, restaurants and a small grocery store. If you want a review, look at tripadvisor.com and see the b&b listings for Seattle. Its part of a well-run chain of b&b called the four sisters inns.

I really recommend the Kimpton Hotels- Monoco and Alexis are really close to the market. These hotels have great rooms, beds and amenities and also feature nice wine tastings in the evenings as well as having a more boutique feel.

I also like Hotel Andre which is really near to shopping and Beltown.

I think I am leaning toward the Sheraton or Crowne Plaza. Any thoughts on those? Can't do priceline because I need to be certain I can have two beds.

The Sheraton has a better location--very central to everything.

suze May 31st, 2008 07:43 AM

Yes, the Sheraton's a good hotel in a good location.

Thanks. Couldn't get a decent-priced room at the Sheraton or Crowne Plaza so I booked a room at the Mayflower. I'll probably try again for the Sheraton and Crowne closer to the trip though.

The Mayflower is a Seattle classic in a great location.

I personally prefer the Mayflower to either of the other two big chain hotels so I'd stick with that unless a pool is essential.

I think you would be very pleased with the Mayflower. I have stayed there a couple times and for now that is our first choice when we are back in the area. The Alexis is very nice as well, but the Mayflower location is just a tad better.

The Mayflower Park is actually a more central location than the other two. It's my favorite Seattle hotel. I always recommend it as a 1st choice (I only didn't here because you seemed already set on the Sheraton or Crowne Plaza in your post above).

Oops I DID recommend it way back up the thread
:-)

I think you'll be happy with the Mayflower. It's a great location with a nice bar (Oliver's)and restaurant downstairs and just about everything you could want in walking distance. The Market and SAM are very close. Enjoy!
