Seattle Hotel Recommedations

Our family will be in Seattle Aug 4-9. Any recommendations on a downtown hotel, preferrably with a pool, that is suitable for two adults and two kids (ages 12 & 9)?

Found a couple reasonably priced hotels in the City Center area but not sure about the neighborhood. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm not exactly sure what your tolerance for price is. Your dates are right in the heart of Seafair and you're not going to find off season rates downtown. If you want the core of downtown you should check the Roosevelt, Vance, Paramount. The Sheraton has a nice top floor view pool, but not on a budget and no great room space for kids. I think your best bet is the Summerfield Suites (Wyndham). Almost all two room suites, edge of downtown, outdoor pool (not too common here). Another possiblity is the Marriott Lake Union or the nearby Silver Cloud. A bit farther from the core but easily accessible and lots of nearby dining. Silver Cloud has a pool, don't know about Marriott. There are a couple of budget places near the Seattle Center, like Travelodge or some such. But Summerfield is your best bet. Be sure to check Wyndham's web rates site.

DH825: If interested in the Silver Cloud Inn at Lake Union, call the hotel directly. I did, and found they had availability on dates their website said were booked; also, they offered lakeview rooms at a lower price than on the net. They are only about a mile from downtown, and offer free shuttle service. I believe there are 2 pools, free continental bkfst. and a self-service laundry room. I haven't stayed there (yet), but they got great reviews on TripAdvisor. Also, closer to Seattle Center, are the Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn (both suite hotels). I think both have pools. When I was checking prices for the summer (a couple of months ago), all of these were in the $100-140 per night range.

Not downtown, but we stayed with kids at Residence Inn Lake Union. Did not find travel into downtown a problem, and with kids it was great to have free breakfast, wine in evening (for us, not the kids). Watched seaplanes lland on lake. Nice area for an AM walk. We picked it because of more space for the money.

What's your budget? The Fairmont (previously the Four Seasons has an indoor pool.) This was our second choice when we stayed last summer.

We really enjoyed the Edgewater located right on the water. Everything about our stay was memorable with beautiful views of Elliott Bay. ***kim***
