I am devastated. The Inn at the Harbor Steps was one of my best hotel finds anywhere. I have stayed several times, I am sure I learned about it from this site.

LOL - the OP hasn't even posted in this thread for a month!

It doesn't count as hijacking somebody's thread when the thread is outdated and no longer garnering information truly useful to the O.P.

My first interaction/reference in relation to the Trolley was in direct response to the OP, and Chucktown Dobbs hasn't yet seen fit to offer same.

So beyond that, here are a couple of more data harvests from the Emerald City Trolley:

A weekday:

(runs with)

4-2-12-10-9-14-11-19

a weekend day:

23-6-10-26-17

The thing definitely does have its moments, and if I were on it, I might like the less-than-jam-packed element which may afford the chance to ask questions of the tour guide.

Plus, I will admit that the trolley makes for a good way for the thousands of people who arrive on cruise ships each week, to get a tour of the downtown area. And when time is more precious than even $50... there is something to be said for making the sacrifice.

Happy to report that the Emerald City Trolley finally came to its senses a little bit, and reduced the $49.28 two-day pass down to $38.33.

A single-day pass can be had for $20 ($21.90 incl. tax) ... and that suits the cruise ship people just fine.

Some random ridership readings from July (all post price cut)

Weekday trolleys spotted with:

3-10-4-14-9-16

4-0-4-5-13

7-24-3-5-12-16-11

0-15-19-30
(cruise ship in harbor this day)

... riders

(a couple of weekend days with)

4-25-4-14-6-27

18-3-6-5-22-40-15

... riders

(now anybody really studying this data would have to allow for the steady increase of tourist activity up to the present Seafair weekend)

I'm mostly content, in that they reduced a good chunk of the overpricing, and the $20 for one day opportunity is very suitable to the cruise ship people.

I guess it is easier to start high and cut prices than to do the opposite, but still... some amount of realism from the start would have been sensible.
