Seattle hotel

We are sailing for Alaska in June out of Seattle. Need a hotel near the pier so that we can do sightseeing the day before we cruise. Would appreciate advice on a moderately priced hotel that would provide shuttle service from the airport and to the pier. Thanks for all your help.

There are two piers, one close to a couple of mid- to high-end hotels, the other not close to any hotels. See this thread: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35178616

No downtown hotels provide the shuttle services you want. Plan on taxis from airport to hotel, probably hotel to dock. Some hotels around Seattle Center may lay on shuttle service to T91 but nobody knows yet.

None of the hotels provide shuttles. You can use the Greyline Airporter between SeaTac and a loop of downtown hotels for ~$10 per person. A taxi to one of the piers would probably run ~$10-12.

I like The Mayflower Park Hotel or the Seattle Warwick.

Many cruise ships leave from the pier that is near the Edgewater Hotel.

True that the Edgewater's near one of the cruiseship docks, but I don't think it's considered a "moderately price hotel"
:-)

Edgewater's current "special" is $294 for city view !!!

NorthwestMale Jan 27th, 2009 12:32 PM

Yes, and "city view" probably is the least preferable of the Edgewater's accommodations.

(among those with a view at all, that is... except for 'cruiseship view' {LOL} )

Marriott Waterfront & the Edgewater are the two hotels closest to Pier 66... but (as stated already) I don't consider either moderately priced.

That said, any hotel in downtown Seattle is a 5-10 mins. taxi ride away.

The Hotel Edgewater is very nice, get one of the water view rooms with a fireplace! ***kim*** ((l))

kimamom, did you read the original request for a "moderately priced hotel"? While I agree that definitions of moderate may vary, few would consider a $588 a night minimum for a waterfront room with fireplace as moderate (and that's a special rate in June!)

Fodorite018 Feb 11th, 2009 05:58 PM

Patrick--Thank you for being the voice of reason here.

As Suze mentioned, there are lots of hotels that are within a very short taxi ride of the pier for you. Take a look in the more central areas. You will find more reasonable options and also be able to walk to restaurants and such.

Oh for heaven's sake...

My friend got the Edgewater for a whopping $95 a night last September.

Just use Priceline and get something cheap and let fate dictate which block/street you'll be on.

Why waste money when you'll have better things to spend it on in Alaska?

If you don't stay at the Edgewater, do try to go there for Happy Hour. The ambience and view are amazing. I loved it there...was led there by a Fodor's tip during my last trip to Seattle.

Great tip, NW... I would also Priceline or Hotwire this one!
