Hello friends,

Thank you very much for your replies.

We are thinking of staying at the Grand Hyatt downtown, as we have some points I can use.

Is this a reasonably nice hotel? Or would you recommend another Hyatt? Or another property?

We would like to keep the nightly tariff to about $200 a night

Thank you very much,

It's a very nice hotel and in a great location. A good place to use your points!

Hello friends,

Thank you very much. We really appreciate them.

In case the Grand Hyatt is not available or within our financial/points budget, are there are other hotel recommendations in the area?

We think we will take a taxi to and from the airport, so we may just do activities around downtown and use public transport.

We really appreciate your help.

Thank you,
newtravellers

I think your plan to take a taxi from the airport (they are flat rate to downtown, but the way) and just do things in the city is a fine plan for a first trip. Enjoy your time in Seattle!

It may or may not fit into the latest itinerary that you posted, but something to keep in mind if you have a few daylight hours to spend:

Take the Southeast Lake Union Streetcar from its stops at Westlake & Olive or Westlake & 7th to Lake Union Park.

Lake Union Park has the Center for Wooden Boats (free and fascinating) and the MOHAI (the museum of Seattle's History and Industry) - both of those have a collection of historical boats and ships along public piers.

And from the park you get great views over Lake Union - it's busy with its myriad seaplanes and boats (yachts, sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, etc.)

If you have time you could walk up the west side of the lake, along the sidewalk and the new bike trail past a variety of activities, including: the seaplane port, the Argosy Cruise dock, and a number of places to rent various watercraft and kayaks, and a variety of moorages and marine supply stores for everything from mega-yachts to power boats and sail boats to houseboats

And for a few blocks south of Lake Union Park Terry Ave. and Westlake Ave have been, are continuing to be, developed as great pedestrian areas amongst new buildings housing Amazon and others with lots of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars.
