Seattle Duck tours?

Has any one been on this tour? What did you think of it? Are there any family type hotels near the Space Needle and City Center? Is that a safe location?

I have not personally been on the Duck tours, but I hear that it is great fun!

I don't know about the Seattle Duck, but the Boston Duck tour was great. I am not usually a 'tour' person, but this tour was differant. Being high on the Duck, we had a great view of the city and the narration was fast and funny. The highlight, of course, is when the Duck plunges into the water for the 2nd half of the tour. For us, an even bigger thrill, was when they asked if anyone wanted to pilot the Duck, and then picked my then 7 year old son to do it. Priceless.

I took the DC Duck tour and really enjoyed it, as did my kids.

We were given a gift certificate for the Seattle Duck tours, even though we live in the area. So we went...but I wouldn't recommend it. Felt like a bad tourist thing, LOL!

Since we live in the general area, I can't help much on the hotel issue...but we have stayed at the Westin downtown several times and its nice, in a safe location, close to everything, and just overall nice. And not too spendy.

If I were coming to visit Seattle, I would pass on the Duck Tours and just get a map of the city and go see the highlights on our own.

Hope this helps:)
