Seattle downtown May/June
Does anyone have experience with any hotels / suites in downtown area of Seattle? We are looking for 2 rooms in the $125 to $165 range maybe, with good reviews.

Unfortunately I think that price range in downtown Seattle will pretty much get you only one of the motels like Days Inn or Best Western.
People report good results with bidding Priceline, ending up with hotels like the Sheraton or Westin for that price range. |
Yes, it's going to be tough to find something decent in that price range--you're the one who posted about the Moore, etc, right? I think the Days Inn is going to be your best bet, unless you are able to find something on Priceline--which is worth a shot, I think, but do your homework first.

I would recommend you consider a B&B in one of the neighborhoods. I stayed at www.foxgloveguesthouse.com in Capitol Hill. For the price you want to pay, you can get a 2 room suite with breakfast.
Capitol Hill is a great neighborhood. Lots of excellent restaurants and stores nearby. The owner of Fox Glove was extremely helpful with maps/directions and suggestions on what to see and where to go out to eat. If you don't want to take a taxi, there are 2 bus stops within a 3 minute walk from this B&B to get you downtown to Pike Place Market and the waterfront in less than 10 minutes. |
Yes, NW Wanderer, it's me, still looking. (Did you ever have to be the one in a party who has to do the leg-work and try and take everyone else's wants, and circumstances, into account?) Anyway, thanks for continuing to input. I will look at the Day's Inn again, and also look into the B&B idea, at least for our friends. My husband and I are thinking the Warwick, which is tied in with the Victoria Clipper. Thanks heavens the Victoria end of our travel is finalized! And we will probably stay near the airport our first night , and our last night. due to flight times.

Yes, all the time ;-). It's hard, isn't it!
If you can get the Warwick at a price that fits your budget, that's definitely a cut above the other places you were looking at. |
My friends recently (Sept 07) stayed at Days Inn and thought it was OK. I saw the room, nothing special but perfectly fine.
$135 is the room rate at this lovely B&B on Capitol Hill near Volunteer Park www.sbmansion.com The Warwick is more like $150 - $200 range but it's a great hotel in a great location imo. |
Thanks all, especially suze and NW, we are all set. The Warwick it is. and the Radisson at the airport. I know I am happier. We are travelling too far to go home unhappy because of pinching pennies.
( Hard to believe a trip to Taiwan was easier planning - just my husband and I!) |
Warwick Hotel is a solid choice. You'll be pleased, I think. I drive by the Warwick going to work every day, so I see how it's run. Lots of business travelers and couples, there's a taxi stand at the entrance, the Airporter Bus stops out front, etc.
Across the street is Ralph's Grocery Store which is handy & in the same block (4th) is the Dahlia Bakery which I *highly* recommend for breakfast or lunch (to-go). It is outstanding (related to Dahlia Lounge restaurant next door). |
Oh what I started to say...
and it has an indoor pool! |
Gotta agree with Suze on this having stayed at the Warwick. Nice floor to ceiling windows for a great view. Also anything Tom Douglas for restaurants like Dahlia Lounge, Etta's, Palace Kitchen etc, and you can't go wrong.
