Seattle Downtown Hotel - Leaving Luggage with Front Desk

Do you feel comfortable leaving your luggage with the bellhop / front desk of a hotel? I'm not much of a city traveler but I am visiting Seattle next month for a wedding and will be spending the last day of the trip in downtown Seattle. My flight does not leave until 6pm and checkout is 11am. I contacted the hotel and they said that they would be happy to hold my luggage while I sight see but this is a first for me. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Happy Travels!

Sure. Well since I live in Seattle I've never actually done it here, but pretty much anytime I travel, check out is 11am and my flight isn't until later in the day. So you check out of the room and leave your suitcase with the front desk. It's totally a normal thing to do :-) suze

I don't know how many times I've done this, in dozens of hotels around the world. It's really not a problem.

I have done this countless times -- easily over 100 over the years all over the world. What worries/concerns you?

Most hotels keep checked luggage ina secure room or closet. You will be given a claim ticket for each item you check. I do this on almost every trip I take.

Have done this in hotels all over the world without any problems.

If the hotel is at all sizable they have a room they lock the luggage in and give you a receipt which you use (along with a tip to the bellman) to retrieve it.

We've done it in lots of places, too. Always lock the suitcases.

Not to worry, most hotels do this kind of thing everyday.

In 35+ years of travel we've never had a problem having the hotel hold our luggage, either because we arrived too early for check-in or are leaving well after we've tied out.

Thank you all so much. As I said, I don't travel in cities much, I'm more of a National Park and outdoor traveler. I didn't realize how common it is. I appreciate the responses!

Small tip when they take it and one when they bring it back...

We do this almost always when staying in a hotel with a departure after check out time.
