Karen, the Edgewater is built on the Seattle waterfront; part of the hotel is supported by pilings into Elliott Bay. They used to have as a slogan "Fish from your Room" but that no longer applies. The Beatles stayed at the Edgewater when they came to Seattle on their first US tour. Its location is not precisely in the center of the waterfront activities; it's about a 15 min. walk to the Pike Market, for example, but there's public transportation at the door and, of course, great views of shipping traffic (if your room faces the water and not the RR tracks across the street). It's been remodeled several times over the years, although IMO it's still not much to look at from the street. But it ought to be fun for one night.

John, thank you very much for the reply. It sounds neat, and my hubby will love that the BEATLES stayed there! Karen

I'm staying in Seattle on Labor Day weekend and considered the Edgewater but I'm there for four nights and it was a bit too pricey (for me) for a long stay. I recall reading that the "city view" rooms are cheaper but can be noisy. You might wish to get a "water view" room instead. Sorry I can't recall where I read this but am fairly certain it was in reference to the Edgewater.

It is a bit pricey but great view of the WHOLE bay. However, if you don't go for a water view--why bother to stay there??As I feel that is its best feature. You can get a city view other hotels at less cost.

There are other nicer hotels in Seattle that are a bit more centrally located. The Edgewater is nice, but it is a walk to everything or public transportation. The Inn at the Market, Monaco, and Alexis are nice (a bit pricey) and centrally located (in the downtown central area)hotels. There are a few B&Bs as well on Capitol Hill which are nice. There are great values at the Seattle hotels until the end of the month I believe. If you do decide to stay at the Edgewater, DEFINITELY get a water view - anything else really isn't worth it. If you have any other ?s re: Seattle, please feel free to email me. I live here.
