Seattle - can I visit Boeing without a car?

Would like to visit the Boeing plant, but do not have a drivers license and won't be renting a car. have been to Seattle before but never had the chance to visit Boeing. Can I visit the plant using public transport? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a company that gives van tours to the Boeing plant from Seattle. Discounts are available at this site: http://www.goldstar.com/events/browse/98101

Scroll down and look for "Go Behind the Scenes at Boeing...." New dates area added all the time. Sign in and click "Tell me when more dates are available."

You "can", but it isn't easy. Use the King county Metro trip planner (metro.kingcounty.gov) or Community Transit planner (Commtrans.org) to find routes. Using downtown Seattle as a start point and 8415 Paine Field Blvd (the address given on the Boeing website for the Future of Flight factory tour) as the end, I found a route involving 3 bus changes and a 1/2 mile walk at the end. Using the Ash Way Park & Ride as a start, Community Transit had a route with no bus changes, but leaving you with 3/4 mile to walk. You could get to Ash Way P & R by express bus from Seattle.

Since there is a commuter train (Sound Transit) that runs between Seattle and Bellevue, I thought you could use that to get to Everett and then taxi from there. But unfortunately it runs on commuter hours, going southbound from Everett to Seattle in the morning, and northbound in the afternoon. That won't work for you.

If you were willing to spend a whole day up there, you could take Amtrak, departing Seattle at 7:40 am and then catching the train from Everett back to Seattle at 8:59 (or later, as it usually runs late). Either way, you would still have to take a taxi from the Everett train station to the futute of Flight museum for the start of the tour.

The Boeing Museum of Flight would be a whole lot easier---an easy bus ride from downtown Seattle. But they don't have the factory tour there, just the museum.

You can catch a train that leaves Seattle @ 7:40am, arriving in Everett @ 8:31 am.

The Plant can be toured beginning @ 8:30am on weekdays, with tours beginning on the hour.

So, from Everett, so I FINALLY figured out after ages of research...

You take route #18 from downtown Everett to Hwy #525 & Front Street (26 minutes)

THEN you transfer to route #113 from there, get off the bus at 84th Street (& hwy #525) AND HAVE TO WALK TWO-THIRDS OF A MILE to the museum. (bus ride = just 6 minutes)

SO, while the effort is somewhat 'involved', it really is DO-able once you get yourself from Seattle to central Everett.

Also, Community Transit route #510 runs BETWEEN Seattle and Everett ALL DAY on a regular schedule, taking just less than an hour for the trip.

Yes you can visit the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour easily by public transport like I did it in June 2013.

I searched two hours for that info. I hope this summary makes it easier for you. Also leave feedback at the Future of Fight Boeing Facility and demand that they put better information about public transport on their website like the information below.

From Seattle downtown to Boeing in Multikeo:
—————————————————————

Take bus# 511 at PIKE ST & 4TH AVE to ASH WAY P-R stop (Park and Ride in Lynwood, you don't have to travel to Everett)
Link to timetable: http://metro.kingcounty.gov/oltools/timetables.html
and type in Metro Route Number 511, next choose weekday/weekend, next choose destination: 511 ASH WAY P-R via LYNNWOOD TC

Time Cash Fare Only ORCA
0h 41m $3.50 $3.50

At Ash Way Park and Ride in Lynwood change to bus 113 to Paine Field Blvd & 84th St SW in Multikeo
Link to timetable: http://www.commtrans.org/tripplanner

Type into start search field: ASH WAY P-R (located in Lynnwood)
Type into end search field: PAINE FIELD BLVD & 84TH ST SW (located in Mukilteo)
Time Cash Fare Only ORCA Walking

Walk 30 meters back and walk up 84th street approximately 10 minutes until you see the Boeing buildings across the large intersection. Look for the future of Flight sign on the roof on the right side.

From Boeing in Multikeo back to Seattle downtown:
———————————————————————
Walk 10 minutes down 84th street to the bus stop on Paine field blvd on your left.

Nice of you to try and help, but you are 18 months too late. Need to check dates.
