Seattle Baseball -Safeco Question for Locals

In all the print I read, I hear about "sightlines" etc.

I have several choices in tickets for some games with the White Sox in Sept.

Some are behind the batter's circle, some are about 10 rows behind the visitor's dug out and some are lower box- not far from third base. But I could probably get others too.

Can anyone tell me which side to sit on where the sightlines might include the water view?

It's just a detail question, and I might go higher up for the day game's tickets- but I'm just wondering before I buy the night game's tickets.

Thanks.

I just asked the resident expert in our office. He goes to a lot of games at Safeco. He said the only seats that have a water view are a small portion of the right field seats. It's a limited view (mostly blocked by Qwest Field next door) so not worth sitting in right field for that.

Then I asked if there were anywhere you could sit with a view of Rainier and he said no---the view in that direction (south) is bolcked by the stadium itself.

So I think you should just pick your seats for watching the game. We like behind the 3rd baseline, but more toward the first-base line you might have a view of downtown Seattle, all lit up at night.

Thanks enzian, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going to a second game and will buy those tickets later when I'm there- so this is only for the first game. I think I'm going with the same place you like. I can get those on the 3rd baseline easily with many choices that season or ticket package owners want to sell.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING FOR ME!

If you can get seats on the 3rd baseline (infield) then go for it. Otherwise (IMO) the best views are from behind home plate or on the 1st baseline side as the downtown skyline is directly in your field of view, and especially nice around sunset.

Water views (mostly obstructed by an elevated freeway) and Mt. Rainier views are readily available from the vendor terraces on the 300 level, first base side.

Thanks, Gardyloo. We always tend to walk and will go to the vendor terraces.

Does Safeco have level restriction?? In other words, if you are upper decks, can you roam. Quite a few parks now restrict your level movements.

I'm going to buy the 3rd baseline infield for the night game.

BTW, a regular beer is now $11 at Yankee's Stadium. Does anyone know what it is at Safeco?

You can roam all over Safeco, that's one of the great things about it...it has an open concourse on the main level so you can see the field from all the way around the ballpark. When I go, I usually spend half the game in my regular seats and half the game walking around.

One of my favorite "secret" spots is the pub on the lower level (down near the bullpens) where you can watch the game at eye level from behind the scoreboard in left field.

Oh thanks, NWWanderer. We will be there too, for sure- especially during the day game.

I have several secret spots at the Cell. We even know where to go down in the "inners" to get the Italian beef sandwiches that the media and players' crew, Sox employees etc. buy. They are almost twice as big- although all the food is better than average for ballparks' "usual" at the Cell.

It's been a long time since I've bought a beer, but IIRC it was north of $7 in the early 00's.

Sorta related: one of our suppliers had a party in the visitor's locker room during our industry conference last November (held next door at Qwest). Was v. cool.

My tickets came today for the night game we are going to in Sept. I did ebay from a ticket holder.

Thanks, everyone.
