Seattle: Amtrak
We will be flying into Seattle on a Thursday in late August, arriving around 6 p.m. and the next morning hoping to take Amtrak to Vancouver. As I have read on here there is a train that leaves about 7:30 a.m., I'd like to know in what area the train station is located and what hotels may be nearby, or would have shuttles to the station.
Thanks. |
The train station is just south of the downtown core, so any downtown hotel would probably do. Don't know about shuttles but it would just be a short taxi ride.
|
Ditto above. Any downtown hotel will be OK. And have the front desk call you a taxi (if there's not a taxi line outside the hotel) in the early morning.
|
We stayed in a downtown hotel and took a taxi to the train. It was maybe 5 years ago, and then the taxi fare was not more then $10 CDN.
Taxis are fast and dependable, so pick any hotel you like. We stayed at the 6th ave inn (maybe a slightly different name) as it was a cheap deal. |
Thanks, everyone, for the information. If I may ask one more thing, how long is the journey on Amtrak to Vancouver?
|
4 hours from Seattle to Vancouver
Leaves 7:40am Arrives 11:35 am |
Just about 4 hours. I think the scheduled arrival time in Vancouver is 11:30 am.
|
Four hours unless there is a mud slide covering the tracks or some other problem (as there too often is).
|
Just a heads up in case you're not aware. The 7:40 is actually the train. At other times during the day, Amrak runs a bus. So stick with the 7:40 if you really want to take the train.
