Seattle accomodations on a budget
If you only have 1 night/day in Seattle, is it best to stay near SEATAC and ride public transportation to sightsee downtown, or stay downtown? Any hotel recommendations on a budget?

Stay downtown, use Priceline for your hotel. See www.biddingfortravel.com for tips on how to use PL effectively.

Ditto. That's what I would do.

P.S. I just love Seattle.

Well, that all depends. If you are coming in in the later afternoon and leaving in the earlier morning, I would stay around SeaTac. If you need a great place to stay, I would highly recommend Holiday Inn Express SeaTac. One of the best airport hotels around. If your flight out is before 10am, you would need to get up between 6-7am if you stayed in town. So again it all depends how much time you have between the flights.
Have a great trip!!!

Stay 4* downtown and use the Gray Line shuttle bus. I believe it's about $7 or $8 each way but only $11 or so for a roundtrip ticket. It picks up and drops off at several downtown hotels. Priceline is definitely the way to go. I just got four nights at the Vintage park, a 4* boutique hotel - $60 per night. Check www.biddingfortravel and www.betterbidding.com for posts of recent winning bids. You should be able to get a 3* hotel for about $40 or pssibly even less.
