Seattle 3 nights where to stay
 

We're going to be in Seattle for 3 nights and were wondering where we should stay in order to be able to see the most we can during this time. I found a place that I really like that is in Freemont but wasn't sure if that was too far away to really see the city in this short of time. I found another place in Pioneer Square but wasn't sure if that was any better location than Freemont.

Thoughts on if we should try to find a place to stay down town or if Freemont would be fine with this amount of time?

Pioneer Square is on the southern edge of the business district, while Fremont is a couple of miles north of downtown. Good bus service into town from Fremont, which is worth a visit in any event. However, most of the "must-sees" are more readily accessible from downtown. Be aware that Pioneer Square is a historic district and home to many social service agencies, so don't be surprised by the number of homeless you see down there.

Fremont is inconvenient and Pioneer Square is dicy. Look for a deal somewhere near the center of the retail and entertainment core--5th and Pine. There are many options.

Fremont is a residential area to the north of downtown Seattle. It's not "too far" but you would either need a rental car or to use Metro bus (public transportation) to get around. It's a nice neighborhood to live, but not one I'd really think of to recommend for a tourist with a short stay.

Pioneer Square is part of downtown Seattle (south). As already mentioned it's the historic district with a lot of street people around. Again not really what I'd think to recommend for a tourist.

Is there a reason you don't want to stay in a normal, centrally-located downtown Seattle hotel? Or around the Seattle Center. Those would be my two recommended areas.

Fremont is not all residential. It is the home of Adobe Systems.

Neither are First Hill, Capitol Hill, lower Queen Ann, Ballard, etc. and etc.

Seattle Marriott Waterfront, if you can afford, or somewhere nearby. Walking distance of Pike Place Market, scenic waterfront, dining & the Olympic Sculpture Park. If you have kids or are young at heart, ride The Ducks. Would also recommend Savor Seattle, a walking tour of the Market & other local food spots.

Less expensive places near Seattle Center-(Space Needle area)
Buses are free in downtown area

Priceline.com betterbidding.com awesome deals bidding Marriott.com for me from $90 or so downtown. Last for me Hampton Inn/Suites 2 blocks from the Space Needle had a wonderful suite nice views close to everything I paid $89/tax got a free preferred HHonors guest upgrade to a great suite. Breakfast was included so a great deal and VERY comfy beds I love them. Those were my last 2 both were great.

If you have a car parking was free at Hampton not at Marriott.

We just came back from Seattle. We stayed at the Maxwell Hotel. It was fantastic. The monorail is a few blocks away but if you sign up, they have a free shuttle service that takes you anywhere you want to go. I was always available. It is in the Queen Anne area.

We stayed at the Inn on the Market and liked it very much. We opted for the less expensive city-view room but I did get to see one of the waterfront rooms and it was lovely. We walked most places and found the service at the hotel to be excellent.

Oh. Never mind. I just realized that the visit had already happened. Oh well, maybe someone else looking for Seattle info will benefit.
