SeaTac DoubleTree (Seattle)??
I'm going to Seattle for a week in November on business. Is the SeaTac DoubleTree a nice place? I'm tempted to spend the extra money on Embassy Suites since I'm more familiar with them.

Mark - I live in Seattle. This
is a decent hotel near the
airport (has a shuttle I believe)
and is right next to Southcenter
Mall, a huge shopping mall. It's
about l5-20 minutes from downtown
Seattle and the waterfront. If
you're going to have extra time
for sightseeing, you may want to
consider something downtown, or
on the waterfront like the
Edgewater. They probably cost
more though. If you have a car
however, you'll be able to find
your way around ok from the
Doubletree.

I don't if this will help you much, but I stayed at the Double Tree before it was the Double Tree -- it was developed initially under another name. It was quite nice, with one peculiar quirk:
the floor around the swimming pool was made of gravel embedded in a matrix of some type of adhesive AND the gravel was sharp. Most uncomfortable to walk on.
So one wore clod knockers to the swimming pool because it was painful to walk around without foot protection.

You cannot beat the location: right across from the entrance to Seatac Aiport. But only you can judge if it is superior to where you want to go.
Actually, Cheryl Z above is referencing a different Doubletree hotel than the one you ask about. The SeaTac Doubletree is not next to Southcenter but is right across from SeaTac airport. It is the former Red Lion. It is a decent accomodation and the rooms are not unlike what you would find at an Embassy Suite although without the two room layout. Embassy Suites is in Tukwila about 10 minutes from SeaTac. It's location is a bit off the beaten track in that you would be driving anywhere you needed to go. You do not need to avoid the Doubletree, I'm sure you would be comfortable there but it depends on what location you want to be in relative to the region. I would be happy to suggest other accomodations if you want to email me with a location. It's been very nice weather here lately, hope it holds up for you.
Hi - sorry, I totally forgot about the old Red Lion now being a Doubletree! It's also close to a nice, open 24 hours restaurant, l3 Coins up the street in an offce building, and would be worth a visit if you needed to eat close by sometime but not in the hotel restaurant.

I need to be near the airport for a conference. At the end of the day, I'd like a nice hotel to return to. That's what I love about Embassy. The atrium provides a nice atmosphere to unwind.

I'll take a couple of days to go out sight-seeing, but that's not the main reason for this trip.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep checking back for more info.
