Seaside, Florida: Advice Requested
 

Two of us are planning a visit to Florida in mid-April. We understand Seaside is a unique place. If anyone has been there and can advise, we would much appreciate whatever info you can give us.

I have woonderful memories of Seaside! Abosultely beutiful! The homes are all cottages painted in pastels with tin roofs(so even if it does rain, you'll ejoy the sounds and smells of the beach) Seaside has been featured in Southern Living and Archit. Digest. They also have Honeymoon cottages right on the beach for rent. I've not been in one, but I here they are small but romantic! It's a walking community, park your car and leave itin the driveway! Great Crocquet course, fabulous private beach which you can walk on forever, and a great restaurant, each cottage has a grill outside, a full kitchen etc..it's wonderful..went there two times on a business conference planning session (just six people)..great beaches for running too! you'll love it...only thing is it is very family friendly, lots of kids..didn't bother me or us, it's great, and if you're looking for nightlife, you can go to a neighboring town! enjoy! Golfing is near by too!

My husband and I have visited Seaside twice and cannot begin to describe how much we yearn to go back soon. Try the honeymoon cottages. They epitomize romance. Imagine laying on your deck (which, by day you can see the gorgeous gulf water and white sand from) hammock at night, listening to and almost feeling the the waves crash in, and gazing at innumerable stars in the otherwise black, black sky. I can't even begin to describe the rest. You have to experience it to understand. They are not cheap, but its definitely worth it. The only downside to staying at the honeymoon cottages was missing breakfast at Josephine's B&B. We stayed at Josephine's on our first trip to Seaside and fell in love with it all. If you do stay at Josephine's, try a suite with a whirlpool tub. Whatever you do, dinner at Josephine's is an absolute must.

Paul - Seaside is as special as others have described it. Rentals are VERY expensive as pointed out. Good places to eat in nearby communities. One minor correction. The reference by one person to the "private" beach was incorrect. It may "feel" private but is actually public. We go to nearby Seagrove Beach (not a planned community as Seaside is, but less expensive) and walk to & from there a lot or ride our bikes through town.

Where exactly is Seaside, FL? <BR>

In NW Florida (Panhandle region) roughly halfway between Panama City and Destin.
