Searching for winter wonderland

We would like to spend a few days before or after Christmas at some place with snow. We don't want to ski, becuase we have 2 young children, but would like to be somewhere with other winter activities - skating, sleigh rides, sledding, etc. US or Canada.

Would love your thoughts.

Quebec City should have enough snow and certainly has enough activities for your family... imagine europe in winter... they also have a winter festival, however it may not start until later...

I loved Jackson Hole, WY. Yellowstone is beautiful in the winter.

Lake Placid or somewhere else in the Adirondacks?

Don't know just how young your kids are but I have been past up many times on the slopes by 4-5 year old kids flying down. You might want to go somewhere that offers tubing. A lot of ski resort off that now. It is very fun.

Thanks for the input. We are planning to ski w/ our kids, but not until February when the resorts are less crowded.

I will look into these.

How about this?

They will certainly have snow - but they could be booked up. It's not a fancy place though!

East Coast: Friends Lake Inn in Chestertown, NY. Wonderful rooms, bar, and restaurant with cross-country skiing right out their door. Ski resort a 20 minute drive. If you have children under 12, then see if the Murphy House right across the road is available (owned by inn and we love to meet with our family there).

West Coast: Jackson, WY as already mentioned. Truly THE winterwonderland with tons to do of N. America.
