Searching for a hotel in Boston
 

We are looking for a hotel for a few nights in Boston next month. Want to spend 300-400$ per night and want a great location for sightseeing. Anyone ever stayed at the Omni Parker House or the Boston Harbor Hotel? Would be grateful for any suggestions since we have never been there before....Thanks!

We stay at the Omni Parker House every year on Patriots Day weekend. We like its convenient location near Boston Common, the Freedom Trail, the Park St. T station. It's within walking distance of the North End and all those Italian restaurants, too!

Thanks flsd! Some of the TripAdvisor reviews are mixed. Say the rooms are small...questionable service etc. If you stay there every year you must not have had any of these issues? Location sounds great - we want to walk and see as much as possible in a short period of time.

The Omni Parker is in a great location but the BHH is a much nicer hotel overall.

In additional to the Liberty, you should also look at Nine Zero, Westin Copley and Copley Marriott. The Ritz Boston Common and the Taj might be above your price range but worth checking out.

It might be best to decide first on which is "a great location for sightseeing", then go to Priceline for a 4* hotel in the area.

It looks to me that 4* hotels, e.g. Nine Zero and Marriott Copley place are going for under $200. It may depend on your dates. ((*))

I've stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel and its terrific, especially if you can get a harbor view room. I'm a little surprised you can get a room there for $400 though, perhaps a good special? I've also stayed at the Parker house although it was quite a few years ago. Our room was small, and it was next to an elevator shaft. I did find it a bit worn and noisy, but the location is perfect. I just think there are better hotels. Like the Liberty or Nine Zero as mentioned. I also like the Fairmont Copley Plaza.


Boston is small, so none of these are in a bad location for sightseeing.But the Back Bay/Copley hotels are better if some of your plans include shopping. The harbor area is better if your sightseeing plans include the aquarium and harbor cruises.

We are staying at the Marriott Custom House. It looks amazing. They called us and gave us a great rate if we take the tour. Apparently it is a time share place, but it also just rents rooms to whomever.

We've never had a complaint about service or the accomodations at the Omni Parker House. On our last stay, the room was a little smaller than in past years but still nice. It invariably comes out the winner when I search comparable nearby hotels.

As someone who lives here, maybe I should not weigh in, but if I imagine being a tourist, I would prefer Back Bay or the Waterfront to the Omni location, just my 2 cents....

We have stayed w/friends at the Custom House and it was great to have the 2 room suite and the Faneuil Hall/Waterfront area locale and short walk to the North End.

We stayed at the Marriott Long Wharf and really enjoyed it; it's right on the water with harbor views on one side and a nice park on the other. Close enough to walk to the North End for Italian, and right by the aquarium and whale watching, also right on a T stop. We found the location to be really convenient.
