Seal Beach

Family of four (parents plus teenage kids)visiting relatives in Newport Beach and thinking of renting a condo in Seal Beach - what's it like?

Seal Beach? Near the coast, charming little seaside southern California town. Away from the coast, typical inland Orange County suburbia. You're also just outside of Long Beach, so this is a somewhat urban coastal area. But it's a nice city, the seaside village area is sweet and has one of my favorite restaurants in the area: Walt's Wharf (on Main).

Thanks for your solitary but very valuable posting! We loved Seal Beach and Waltz Wharfe was perhaps the best meal experience we have had in CA over the past 10 years - Many thanks again

Glad you liked Seal Beach! And Walt's Wharf. One of the better seafood places in Orange County (the best being the Los Alamitos Original Fish Company, in the height of Generic Suburbia that is Los Alamitos). Their caramelized salmon is superb!

Walt's Wharf is definitely up there. But while in the area, one cannot dismiss Capt. Jack's. Prime rib to die for and probably some of the best swordfish and king crab legs I have ever had.
