Seafood Restaurants DC

My friend is coming in from out of town and she would like to eat at a good seafood restaurant. I'm newly transplanted to the area myself. We would like to spend no more than 50.00 per person. We are both early-fourties, female and single. Would like some type of interesting atmosphere. Loud is okay, but not so loud that we can't hear each other. Prefer somewhere in a 'happening', but safe area where we can shop or sitesee before or after dinner

Consider Acadiana for upscale Louisiana-style seafood, or Oceanaire. In general, though, the area's proximity to the ocean and fresh waterways means seafood offerings at most nice restaurants should be above average.

Johnny's Half Shell is a good suggestion - they are moving to Capitol Hill, but I don't think that process has started yet. Another great, casual place is Hank's Oyster Bar. Both are in Dupont Circle (Johnny's on the west side, Hank's on the east), which is a very fun area for strolling, shopping, getting drinks, etc. Neither is expensive and both have wonderful, fresh seafood and a fun atmosphere.
