Going to sea world in April with grand kids. Looks like prices are $86 for adults and $80 for kids online. Are they the same price in person. Is there any place to get discount tickets??

The $86 ticket is valid for the rest of the year if you choose that option so not such a bad deal.

sea world is expensive. parking is expensive there too. to save some money, we usually have a large breakfast and then just plan on eating popcorn during one of the shows. sometimes i'll bring in some granolla bara or something small. you can bring in water bottles and refill them. then just plan on hitting mission / pacific beach right afterwards for your dinner.

We don't live in California so probably would not use the ticket again. so, is the cost ($86) the same both on line and at the door. Nort sure what you mean by finger scan.

If you are a member of AAA you can get a discount on SeaWorld tickets. Adults for $76 and kids for $70. At least that's what my membership gets me. It looks like DebitNM found cheaper tickets though.

We will probably do the fun pass that is good the rest of the year. This way we could visit over 2 days if the kids are tired. Of course down side is we will have to pay for parking twice.

The real down side is that by visiting Sea World you and your children will be participating in and encouraging the continued torture of the magnificent creatures they exploit to make money for a corporation.

Sea World has the distinction of being named on of the four worst companies in America. It is battling a class action lawsuit alleging cruel conditions at its parks. It has been accused of stealing baby penguins and orcas from their mothers in the wild. It has been accused of underfunding medical and research programs to the point of endangering the health of its captives, while it touts these programs to suckers--sorry, tourists. And it ignores obvious safety risks to it employees that stem from the conditions in which orcas in particular are held.

What really breaks my heart is that parents bring their children to Sea World. Children , in their innocence, love animals and abhor cruelty. What would they say to you if they understood what's being done to those animals to entertain them, and to make a buck?

Sea World is bloody expensive. The San Diego flagship park fees are stratospheric.

Thanks for the support, SusieQQ and DebitNM. I debated whether to post at all, but then I thought, what if a tourist is somehow unaware of how unworthy Sea World is of their dollars? I decided it was a travel-related point after all.

Sea World's ticket prices have gone up astronomically. Maybe this is to offset possible future fines!

tidy, you might consider visiting the San Diego Zoo instead. Tickets are cheaper (about $50 a day) and it is an excellent zoo. Their animals are treated extremely well. See the pandas!!! :D

Plenty of activities for the kids, including train rides and cable car rides to reduce the walking.
The food inside the zoo is better quality than Sea World and more reasonably priced!

Oh, and I would and have returned to San Diego Zoo. I don't intend to revisit Sea World!
