Sea World San Deigo Acccommodation
Hi, will be visiting San Diego for a couple of days this April and would really appreciate any advice on a good quality hotel that is easy to get to Sea World and the zoo.
Thanks heaps |
There are quite a few between the two attractions maybe TahitiTams will see this.

Thanks hulajake!
Hi miffytom, How much are you looking to spend? Have you ever been to SD? When in April? |
Paradise Point Resort is the closest hotel to Sea World. This past summer we had to stay in 6 hotels in San Diego (where we live) when a flooring contractor damaged our house and we really enjoyed Paradise Point. It is on the bay and about a 10 minute walk to Sea World. They have a good spa and restaurants.
Across the bay from Sea World is the Mission Bay Hilton-friends like it a lot however it is kind of set by itself so you would have to drive everywhere. If you want to stay in Mission Valley (which is between the Zoo and Sea World-a 10 minute drive at the most to each location), then I recommend the Marriot Residence Inn. The rooms were very large and we thought the service was very good. The first two weeks out here is spring break so you should try to book a room asap since San Diego gets crowded during that time (as well as the attractions). Be sure to go back to Sea World at night since it is a different experience. If you want to do something different and like baseball, then I recommend the Omni downtown next to the baseball park. We also stayed there and loved being able to walk across the bridge to the ball park. Sea World and the Zoo are in different parts of town so you have to decide if you want to be near one or the other or in between. Hope the info is helpful. |
Try Shelter Island..very close to Seaword and Zoo..nice bay city views, nice green grass walking trail on the Bay.
Shelter Pointe Hotel is at the end and the rooms way at the end look out the Bay to the ocean..there is also Bay Club, Best Western Humphreys...HUmphreys has a fabulous Sunday Seafood Brunch, Boll Weavil Hamburger place for Cheap and Briginitne has the best Happy Hour appetizers... |
Hi Tahittams
This will be our first visit to San Diego. We are travellling from Australia to Disneyland for 5 nights then to SD for 2 nights - mostly to see the zoo and Seaworld. Budget for accomodation is around $400 per night. Thanks for all the advice. |
Hi miffytom,
Love that you are coming in from Australia to San Diego.. I used to live briefly in Rose Bay, Sydney.. $400 is a very nice budget to have for a room in April and I would suggest several hotels that would work for you.. itsv, suggested Paradise Point and that is a great hotel and the casitas on the bay are wonderful..hope most of the renovation is done..you might want to shoot them an E-Mail..seen some good deals on Expedia or try direct. La Jolla is a gorgeous town about 15 minutes from Sea World and the Zoo and beautiful coastline, shopping & restaurants.. Love La Valencia Hotel..charming Moorish Hotel that is across the street from the ocean and its where alot of the celebrities stay. Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado is a classic hotel that is very famous for being in alot of movies.. In downtown San Diego you can try the US Grant Hotel. Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe is lovely too..owned by La V. Del Mar, I would do L'Auberge Del Mar. When you are at the SD Zoo, go to the Prado Restaurant just around the corner where the musuems are. Do try and get to Georges at the Cove in La Jolla for a fab lunch or dinner. They just did a complete renovation and have changed the name..won alot of awards and I like to eat on the terrace. All hotels are on Expedia.com Have a wonderful time in SD and I am happy to help answer any questions you might have! hoteldel.com lavalencia.com georgesatthecove.com laubergedelmar.com cohnrestaurants.com usgrant.net paradisepoint.com |
Hi TahitiTams
Thanks for all the great info. It really is a small world, we lived in Rose Bay - Manion Avenue when we first finished university nearly 20 years ago! We now live on a farm 3 hours from Sydney. I'll contact the hotels you mentioned and let you know how we go. Thanks again |
