SEA LORD or VILLA CAPRICE in FT Lauderdale by the SEA

Does anyone have any information about these 2 properties? Has anyone stayed here? I find your suggestions so helpful!

Check out Lighthousecove.com. It is in Pompano, just north of LBTS.It may be what you are looking for at a good price. They are condo rentals right on the beach. The rooms have balconies, there is a nice pool and whirlpool, and Tiki bar. There is a virtual tour on-line. I have never stayed here but have walked around the property and checked out the pool and beach area, both of which are very nice.

phoebes, you are very welcome and I'm glad I can introduce one of my favorite places to a new person!

Make sure you write a detailed trip report!

Let us know which you pick (you'll love the Hyatt in Key West).

Phoebes-did you get a good price at the hyatt? We are going the 1st week in Dec. to Key West, and staying at the Ocean Key Resort as I got a good rate there. The cheapest I can find the Hyatt for a partial ocean view is $279. The Ocean Key is $249 with breakfast and 2 cocktails per person each day(for ocean view jr. suite). Let me know if Hyatt is having a better deal and where you found it. Thanks.

The Hyatt has a courtyard view AAA rate of $215, but is sold out for 1 of the nts. we would need to stay, so looks like we'll be at the Ocean Key.
By the way, I do know Ft. Lauderdale well, as I used to live there and return most years to visit. If you can get the Marriott Harbor Beach on priceline I would go for it, even if you don't get a balcony-the property itself is so beautiful, as is the Lago Mar. You could always ask for a balcony room and offer to pay a little more. Another possibility is the Radisson Bahia Mar-it is definetly not as resort like as the other 2, but looks nice enough-the beach is across the street. I have never stayed here though, so do not know what the rooms or pool area look like. Visa was having a special of buy 1 nt., get one free(on visa.com-go to travel).

Okay, Phoebes, I live in Ft Lauderdale and recently scoped out the LBTS accommodations for a little getaway without leaving town. I fell in love with the Villa Caprice. It is so fantastic looking and gets a great review from travelers on TripAdvisor.com. It's right on the beach and looked soooooo inviting with lots of personality. I didn't get a chance to go in and see any rooms, though.

The Radisson Bahia Mar is a great hotel, if you go there, make sure you get a view in the main hotel facing "north". This will give you a great view of: Intracoastal and the Venice of America, marinas AND the ocean. Get a room on at least the 7th or 8th floor (no lower.) The pool is on the 2nd level and there is a walkway above the street for easy access to the beach. It's also right next door to the main office for the Water Taxi (which is a great way to see Ft Laud.)

BTW - the Sea Lord looked okay from the outside, but I have no idea what it's like inside. LBTS is much more quaint than Ft Laud beach (Marriott, Radisson, etc.)

Ocean Key Resort is FABULOUS in Key West. We stayed there a few years ago and got a room overlooking Mallory Square and I got fantastic pics right off our balcony. Make sure your "ocean view" is overlooking Mallory Square, otherwise the sunsets won't be as beautiful. However, the views are all great unless you are overlooking Duval Street.
