Scottsdale Hotels
I've got two reservations booked for an April trip to Scottsdale - any feedback on which of these two hotels would be the "best" ??
Scottsdale Princess or The Phoenician.
Thanks
|
I have stayed at the Princess, very nice. I always wanted to stay at the Phoenician. A woman I met at Fire Island a few years back helped to write travel books. She said that she gets comp'ed wherever she goes, and the Phoenician was the only hotel in Az that she would pay to stay at. Either way, you can't lose.

Wherever you stay, try to make it to the Phoenician's Sunday brunch. It's $$$$$$$, but the food is FABULOUS!!!!!!!

Elsa

Thanks for the info - my concern with the Princess is that sometimes those hotels are just too big / spread out not convenient to get to and from the pools, etc. Also, they tend to be older and I worry that they are overpriced due to the name rather than the facility / service.

I don't think the race between these two is that close. I've stayed at both, more often at the Phoenician. Its pools are much nicer, grounds prettier, location better, rooms a little nicer. I don't like the spread out apartment feel of Princess. It is quieter there, though, and closer to the open desert.
If price was widely discrepant, that could pull the Princess ahead, but it often runs over $400, too much for this place IMO.

The Phoenician is the ONLY way to go! The Princess has a rather "strange" location, too remote of a feeling, and quite frankly, I found the hotel to be rather run-down looking! As a matter of fact, I would rather stay at the Ritz-Carlton on Camelback instead of the Princess!!

Definitely The Phoenician...if just for the location...far, far better to get around to Scottsdale, downtown Phoenix, Carefree, Tempe or other surrounding communities. Gorgeous pools, landscaping and wonderful food, driving easy to touristy things you might want to see and do.

Location, location, location!!!

I think everyone is right on this one - the Princess IS TOO FAR AWAY!! Its in the middle of nowhere in the EXTREME NE part of the metro area. Golf is good, Restaurants are good too, but thats about it.

The Phoenician is not as spread out, and equally nice (or nicer) as it sits on the base of Camelback mtn and you have soo much access to Downtown Scottsdale and the Biltmore areas.

The brunch is INCREDIBLE, I took my fiance their for her birthday 3 weeks ago. Its $49 a person.
