Scottsdale Camelback Resort

We just got a traded our timeshare for a studio in this resort. Has anyone stayed here? Are the facilities nice?

scotty Oct 24th, 2002 09:30 AM

I'm assuming you mean the Marriott Camelback.

If so, it's a nice place. The types of accommodations there vary widely -- the worst are the rooms in the 4-unit buildings -- but all in all, it's a pretty good spot. Nice spa, nice view of the mountains, and not too far from Old Scottsdale and the downtown area.

For a timeshare they're OK.
It's not the Phoenician.
But it's not the Motel 6 either.

Nissa Oct 24th, 2002 09:38 AM

The Scottsdale CB Resort is NOT the Marriott.
It's not as nice as the Marriott, and is more like a condo or apartment complex.

I stand corrected by Nibba. Apparently the Camelback Resort and the Marriott are two different places, so ignore my comments about the Marriott. (There oughtta be a law against using the same name twice.)

The Marriott is the Camelback Inn - a lovely resort with golf course and fabulous spa. If the Camelback Resort is a different place, I know nothing about it.

The Scottsdale Camelback Resort is located on the NW corner of 64th St and Camelback, next to the Phoenician. Nice location. It is about 20 yrs old.

THis should be a warning to all those who rely solely on this forum to get their information!

..... Oct 24th, 2002 04:33 PM

anyone who relies solely on any one source of info is a fool...whether it's for planning a trip, buying a car, or choosing a doctor.

scotty Oct 25th, 2002 08:34 AM

Madge has some real problems. She's treating a misunderstanding as if it's the next attack by al-Qaeda.

madge Oct 25th, 2002 09:13 AM

Scotty, sorry if you're treating this as a personal attack on you, because it wasn't.

On the other hand, your comment that "Madge has some real problems" IS a personal attack, so thank you for demonstrating that you're clearly not worthy of an apology.

The point was that some people tend to naively treat this forum as a source of expert opinion, and often use it as a substitute for doing their own legwork. It's easy to fall into that trap and forget that you're getting advice not only from good knowledgeable people, but good misinformed people, not to mention not-so-good misinformed people. Joyce is fortunate that in this instance the confusion was resolved, but it should serve as a reminder that this forum should only be one part of your travel homework equation.

Beam yourself up, Scotty. You compare these posts to terrorist threats? Maybe it's time to switch your meds.

Hi Joyce!
We stayed at the Scottsdale Camelback Resort (not the Marriot) a few years ago,(timeshare trade too)we didnt have a "studio" it was more like a townhouse condo, very comfortable and nice furniture, we had our two younger children with us ( 10 and 12)and had a very nice family vacation. The place is small, (nothing like the Marriot)but pretty, nice pools and patios, with a fireplace next to the pool, etc, etc, and it is very central located. We enjoyed very much! Hope you do to!
