Scottsdale Arizona

I will be traveling to Scottsdale in the beginning of August for a week.
Does anyone know of any great restaurants in the area.
I especially like early eating specials between 4 and 6. They are great and sometimes cost considerably less that after 6PM. We recently went to Palm Desert and had a great time with this.

Also does anyone know of good golf courses that have reduced rates during the summer months.

Is it true that Scottsdale to the Grand Canyon is too long for a day trip?

Thanks for any info you may have.

Pretty much all of the golf courses have reduced summer rates ...

Less than four hours drive each way if you avoid Phoenix metro area rush hour traffic, plus time spent at the GC ... overnighting at the GC works better, you get to catch a sunset and a sunrise and don't feel so rushed.

You can usually find a room near the Canyon without too much trouble, if not on the rim then at Tusayan or Cameron or Williams or Flagstaff (10 minutes to 90 minutes away, depending on which place you stay).

I would call around to the various resort restaurants. I know the Camelback Inn used to have an early bird special -my folks went all the time - but that has bee several years.

Pretty much all courses have reduced rates in the summer - it would depend on how high-end you wish to go.

Scottsdale now covers quite a large area so it would be helpful to know whether you will be in north or south Scottsdale. Also, what kind of food do you like? MANY terrific restaurants. One good area is Kierland Commons - large selection of restaurants/shops. For local flavor, Pinnacle Peak Patio, Reata Pass, The Satisfied Frog, Harold's, Greasewood Flat or Durant's (in Phoenix).

Enjoy your visit!
