School outin San Diego

When is school out in California so we can take our vacation before that time to avoid all the family vacationers in San Diego. We like kids, but like thinner crowds. thanks

Well if you mean for Spring Break, unfortunately there is no set week for all schools. There are several different vacation times, so that Spring Break can last almost the entire month of March and first week in April.

For Summer Break, a few schools end in May, but most end the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

With year-round schooling now, there are families vacationing there all the time. Early May would probably be a good time to go.

The height of tourist season in CA is generally between Memorial Day and Labor Day. After Labor Day the crowds thin out, which is great for those who like to travel outside those dates because the weather on the California coast is generally the best in September.

Unless you are going to the beach (Mission or Pacific Beach) kids are not a problem anywhere. The first part of June and the last two weeks of August are when most tourist leave. School usually get out around June 15 and return right after Labor Day.

How is the school year end date in CA important? Don't vacationers come from all over? June will be dreary along the southern CA coast. May has been nice in the past. Low tourist season.
