Absolutely, positively, without reservation, YES!
If you are driving through Texas, and I assume this is a summer trip, spending a day in Schlitterbahn will be a break you will remember forever. Do it. You'll have a blast! Jim |
I totally concur with Jim, and so does the Travel Channel, which rated this the number one water park in America.
There's some great tubing in the area near Garner State Park, too. |
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I want to spend 3 days just at the park, I had such a good time the partial day I was there. Can't wait to take my little guy in a few years! Sara |
It is worth it! It has become crowded over the past 5-7 years, but I grew up going to Schilitterbahn before they added all of the different sections. Get there early and get ready to cool off. My favorite rides are in the original park. I really love the river rapids rides. The last time I was there, you could still take your own food into the park, they have lots of picnic tables.

Thanks for the replys any must dos at the park?

Ride as many of the slides as you can! And remember, there are two parks with a tram that runs between them, so be sure and see the other park!
SKIP Laredo! It isn't worth the long drive from San Antonio, and there is SO much violence going on across the border in Mexico right now. If you want to feel like you've been to Mexico, go to El Mercado downtown in San Antonio. |
For me the main must do rides are the river rapid rides. You will need to get an inner tube inside the park for these rides. Again, I find the original park the most enjoyable. When you enter Schlitterbahn you will be at the original park. Many people also like tubing in Guadalupe River around New Braunfels, be warned the water is cold! I have no idea what the water is like right now because we haven't had rain in about a month.

Our day there was very enjoyable. I liked tubing on the river too.
Be prepaired to stand in line for a longgggg time for the coaster rides (slides etc). Think almost Disney at least when we were there at the end of may two years ago it was. |
If you like roller coasters, you have to do the Master Blaster. This can be a LONG wait, but it is worth it. It's about three stories high, and you and a partner board a larger tube which travels down, up, and down again, as if you are on a roller coaster.
After a series of lifts and drops, you eventually end up in the pool at the bottom, and instantly want to go back up to do it again. This is a major commitment of time, however, so unless you get there as the gates open and get up to the top and in line, you're likely looking at a couple of hours wasted in line before you go, and for a one-day visit that's not a smart choice. Too many other great things to do. You may want to look at the park's web page and investigate if a cabin on the grounds is available. These book early, and many families book them from year to year, but it might be an advantage for you to be within the park. Jim |
Whew... Thanks Jim, thats the one I was trying to remember the name of. We stood on line for almost two hours to ride that one. At least it was really fun after that long wait. But I would not wait that long again.
