Scenic Trip
 

Dear all, visited USA but never the mountains, lakes and scenic parts of America.
Have about 12 to 14 days on hand between Nov 25th till 12th Dec.
Any itinerary recommendations, please. Driving will be okay.

I think you need to be more specific about which parts of the USA you have already visited. That way we can get a better idea of whether or not your definition of "scenic" is realistic.

You are having enough time to visit so many places. Try Death Valley for great scenes of nature and animals. I had been there and it’s a really thrill place for any nature lover. Then you can also try Havasu falls , Bryce canyon, antelope canyon , lake Tahoe, the finger lakes, Yellowstone national park, the white mountains in New Hampshire.
I had visited some of these places, they are must visit places!

Been always to the modern-day jungle places like NY, LA, LV, Miami, Orlando, etc.. Never been to any cool places of nature. That's what I am looking forward to plan ahead.

yildy: You have tagged your thread for Oregon. Is that where you want to go . . . or are you asking for advice where to go anywhere in the States to see mountains and lakes? Or maybe do you mean you want to travel to the west coast (California/Oregon/Washington)

One thing to bear in mind -- Nov/Dec can be stormy in some mountain regions, including snow.

No.

It's a beautiful park but it is not noteworthy for animals. Not even slightly noteworthy for animals.

I would say the rest of the itinerary by jay_rogers is not doable in 12-14 days either.

I think a trip to Zion/Bryce/Grand Canyon followed by Yosemite and perhaps Lake Tahoe would work. Or Zion/Bryce/Grand Canyon and Colorado for the remainder. But as janisj said, mountain regions will have snow. You'll be more limited in daylight and driving as compared to summer - some roads will be closed in winter or could close temporarily due to storms.

As others have noted, this time period has two main problems for visiting areas with mountains and lakes:
1) Pretty much every area with both of these features will definitely have cold weather, and possibly snow, by late November. A blizzard is not out of the question.
2) Daylight hours will be short, not giving you a lot of time to see scenery.

As noted above, one area that will reduce (but not remove) the severity of problem (1) is the desert southwest. Check out the national parks and monuments of west Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and southern Utah. All have nice scenery, some have SPECTACULAR scenery. The nice thing about desert scenery is that it actually looks BETTER at sunrise & sunset, so all of your daylight hours will have the opportunity of beauty.

If you like the cold, Quebec City is a good place to visit for mountains. It is bordered on the south by the province of New Brunswick and the U.S. states of Maine. I went their for my husband, that's really a good place with pure environment. For more options just tell me your convenient location.
