Scenic Route 6 in Pennsylvania
Any one taken the scenic byway Route 6 across Pennsylvania? I'll be doing the drive in October, from Scranton to Warren, and would like any tips on what to see and do. I like to photograph scenery, such as waterfalls, lakes, mountains, vistas, and do short hikes (like under 5 miles). Any covered bridges in this region?

5 yrs ago, we drove from Michigan in October, stopped at Tourist Plaza to inquire as to a colorful, scenic drive. As we got off and headed north, the sky began to cloud up. When we turned to head east on route 6, the rain began. We stayed the night near the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Next morning we went to see it. It sounded quite majestic...if the fog had been just a little less, we might have seen the edge of the overlook. We turned around and headed for Indiana.
What we did see, was a lot of sameness forest, and roadside development that appeared to have ceased in the mid 1950's. Summary: We won't be returning to see it in the sunlight. |
