Scenic Railroad

Has anyone ever rode the scenic railroad in New Hampshire thru the White Mountains? If so, is it worth riding?

jen121,
Do a search on this forum - I recall seeing several posts recently and you'll get some good information.

We did the train ride to Crawford Notch four years ago, and enjoyed it very much. The scenery was quite beautiful, especially as we got higher up and had great views. It was a nice day, and we sat in the outdoor car, which I think was probably much better than being inside and looking through a window.

Have you ever ridden the Cog Railroad that goes up the side of Mount Washington?

It's an incredibly unique experience....and the views are awesome.

Hey Stevebarr,
How long does the train take? It is worth it?

The round trip cog ride takes approximately three hours, including a 20 minute stop at the summit. Please check operating schedule for departure times and dates as there is only weekend service thru October and a shorter one hour trip in winter.
If the weather is not severe, I would go but it can be extremely windy with obscuring clouds and snow at the summit this time of year. The trip up and back is quite exciting but slow because the train uses a cog rail in the center track to keep it from falling backward.
