Scenic Drives around Las Vegas
Hi all. We will be in LV in May for the first time, where we'll be renting a car. I have heard about all the Canyons and Valleys around Las Vegas. Yet, are there any beautiful, dramatically scenic drives in the immediate vicinity of the city?
Thank you. Keith.

red rock canyon, about 30 mins NW of the strip. Look for it as you fly into LV

Thank you.

Mt Charleston.....

This is an obvious one, but I'll mention it nonetheless. After the sun sets and the lights are on, drive from one end of the strip (Mandalay Bay) to the other (at least the Stratosphere, if not Fremont St.). Great to take in all the electricity in every way. But do be careful, as the streets can get crazy at night! I'll second Red Rock Canyon too.

We liked Valley of Fire State Park better than Red Rock. Red Rock only had one very long red rock. Valley of Fire has hundreds of them, some in very interesting formations.

I highly recommend Valley of Fire State Park.

To P: the poster didn't ask for your opinion - quit wasting space.

You have to visit Lake Mead and stop by Hoover Dam while you're there. Have fun!
