Which one is more scenic?

Thanks!

As a resident, I will add my 2 cents -- 550 is the most direct and will be as nice a ride as going all the way around on 145. There are wonderful views on this route. Stop at Box Canyon Falls and take the time to climb to the top. A great view and a terrific way to stretch your legs for just $3 a person. The Falls are just before you get into Ouray. Stop for lunch at Buen Tiempo or Tundra at theBeaumont Hotel for a great dinner.

Thanks for the info.

How long is the hike to the top of Box Canyon Falls? Is the trail OK in November?

I see you have already made your choice but I'll go ahead and confirm what everyone else has said and take 550.

Just read the AAA tour book. The hike for Box Canyon Falls is only 30 min. However, the main purpose seems to be to see the waterfalls. There would be no water in the winter. Is it still worthwhile to hike up?

Thanks!

We were there a few weeks ago and there is water- albeit not what it would be in early spring during snow melt, but it was still pretty good to see. My visitor from NY liked it alot.
