B'bum-
HEY!!! I resemble that remark!
Scarlett-
You are aware that Portland is overrun by packs of Yapping Pekingese from time to time?
And stay farrrrrr away from the R5s...they'll make you drink too much.

Kal, good advice, good thing I have a Big Yapping Poodle of my own
Thank you Razzle..that worked!
We will be needing all sorts of Road Trip advice, I seem to remember the last time I took this trip (East Coast-West Coast) I had this little barn with these little bitty animals and my parents and I all wore the same plaid shirts!

Well, welcome to Gawd's country, even if the standard greeting in parts of Portland is still "Nice Tooth."
Are you aware of Oregon's flirtation with the Confederacy? At the knee (not really) of an Assistant Professor of History (i.e., a pischer with a PhD) back in my days at the University of California at Eugene, I was told (and even if it's bogus it's too good not to perpetuate) that Oregon remained with the Union rather than join the Rebs by two votes, the result of 3 would-be Johnny Rs being hogtied in the attic of the State capitol at the time of the vote. State of Mainers in the northern part of Oregon, red clay pine loggers in the south. They still call parts of the southern part of the state (Rogue Valley, etc.) "Little Dixie" and vote that way too. Yee haw indeed.

Nice tooth? Where'd that come from?
As I recall those good ol' boys lived up some holler or other off Sandy Blvd, but it was hard to figger out where I was what with the old tires and the dawgs in the back of the pickup blockin' my view.
The old man (I think his name was longer than "Paw" but I never heard it) made some damn fine blackberry wine in the shed out back. Prob'ly other stuff too, but he didn't know us that well.

Are you doing any sort of trip journal, Gardyloo?

If you mean regarding our now-in-progrss RTW, I posted a report over on flyertalk.com - be warned it's full of frequent flyer lingo and focuses on the frequent flyer in-flight food fetish fixation that is de rigueur at FT - LOL. Of course there's more about flying than being on the ground, but that too is expected.
I'll probably start posting excerpts here when the mood hits and I'm finally over what has been a record case of jetlag, now finally abating after 6 days.
Here's the FT link: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425292
