scalper tickets at Fenway

Would like to hear fron anyone who's gone to a Red Sox game and bought tickets from a scalper.

Were there a lot of scalpers and available tickets? Was there a better time or location to find tickets? What did you pay and what were the seats like?

We're thinking of heading to Fenway this weekend for a one of the games with the Phillies, and the ticket prices we're seeing on the Web are outrageous. I figure we can't do worse by dealing with a scalper at game time.

It's worth a try. I can usually find scalpers right in Kenmore square across from Uno's. Also try stubhub.com. season ticket holders sell tickets there, worth a try.

Thanks, doc. Will start with the Kenmore Sq. area.

I did look at stubhub prior to posting. The asking prices were crazy -- as bad as on ebay or anywhere else.

They're everywhere but right outside Kenmore T-Stop is a good start.

If you think of it, print out a copy of Fenway's seating chart with the section numbers. Some guys will tell you that they're great seats, only to have you later find out that they aren't where they told you.

While I have never bought from a scalper, there seem to be a fair number of them - depending on opponent and weather. There seem to be far more peole selling nearer to Kenmore Square than the actual ballpark - my only guess would be that this has something to do with law enforcement, but that is only a guess.

Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, (especially Grandstand seats) are terrible - in right field with line of sight facing a billboard in left field - a guarantee of neck and back pain the next AM if you sit there. The bleachers are far preferable to sitting in these sections.

The Red Sox say they have day of game tickets available for every game - but usually in very limited quantities. Maybe someone else knows what time these go on sale and how many hours in advance one must need to line up.
